A short story by the classic of Russian and world literature Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860 - 1904) "Rothschild's Fiddle" refers to the late period of the writer's literary activity.
Even at the beginning of his literary career, Chekhov, like a baton, took the theme of the "little man", coming from Pushkin and Gogol. Over time, this topic is deeply rethought by him, being developed into a broader one.
In this work, the author already frankly shows that even in the “little man” slavery and despotism can surprisingly coexist. And yet the main idea of the story is the birth of the soul and everyone's own responsibility for the personal moral revival.
